Eco-Tourist Trips in Baja California Sur

La Purisma Valley
La Purisma Valley, Mexico

The goal of these trips is to provide an opportunity for people to discover the environmental and cultural terrain of the southern Baja Peninsula, from the agricultural oasis of the La Purisima valley, up to La Sierra (the Giganta Mountain range) and down through the arroyos to the Pacific Ocean. The fauna and flora, geology, and ecologies of the different regions will be seen and discussed along with a packet of literature presented to each participant. You will visit 10,000 year old cave paintings and petroglyphs created by unknown, indigenous peoples of the region. The present day ranchero way of life will accompany us through the rugged high mountain desert. The sombrero-clad cowboy on horseback, ranging cattle in the Sierra, transforms into the baseball-capped panga (local fishing boat) skipper racing out to the abundant fisheries of the eastern coastal Pacific, while in the middle, agriculturists in La Purisima are busy working the orchards and farms of the Oasis. All of these diverse zones exist along a 40 mile latitudinal line from the middle of the peninsula to the Pacific Ocean.

Spanish is by far the predominant language. Our travels in this environment will provide an excellent opportunity for students to practice their spanish language skills.
